James Buchanan is best-known as our nation’s 15th President, but he was also a gentleman farmer. From 1848-1868, Buchanan lived at Wheatland, which sat upon 22.5 acres of meadows, orchards, gardens, and more. On Saturday, September 12, join Stephanie Celiberti, Manager of President James Buchanan’s Wheatland, for a walk through the Wheatland property. During the walk, learn how Wheatland functioned as a farm and green space over the course of Buchanan’s ownership of the property.
Please note: This is an outdoor walking tour. Appropriate footwear and apparel to walk across grass, dirt, brick sidewalks, and pavement is encouraged. If you have any accessibility concerns, please contact info@lancasterhistory.org in advance of the program.
